mentre le linee di confine culturali si sovrappongono…

Forms are still and immobile, the time stops while
cultural border lines interferes each other …

Nella tranquillità e negli immensi spazi della campagna americana, a Woodbridge, nel Connecticut, sorge questa elegante abitazione. L’atmosfera è magica, sembra quasi di entrare nella scenografia di un film. Una scenografia scandita dai numerosi giochi grafici e dalle forme simmetriche che risaltano in modo armonioso.

In the quite and immense spaces of American country at Wood-bridge in Connecticut there is this elegant home. The atmosphere is magic and it seems almost a film stage. A stage marked from numerous harmoniously highlighted graphic plays and symmetric forms.

Situata in cima alla collina che si affaccia su Long Island Sound, la casa si caratterizza per la sua geometria perfettamente simmetrica, in stile palladiano. Subito all’ingresso si è attratti dall’ampio schermo di vetro che lascia filtrare la luce in modo straordinario, ampliata dalla scelta del colore bianco sia per l’esterno che per l’interno. L’equilibrio delle forme è ricercato: le grandi finestre ad oblò creano infatti pieni e vuoti con sensazioni di leggerezza. In questo ambiente c’è una sorta di continuità tra i vari locali: dal sentiero all’ingresso si giunge fino alla vetrata del soggiorno e dall’atrio lungo la scala si sale in cima fino all’osservatorio, in un’interazione di spazi privi di barriere fisiche e visive. Davanti al cortile si trova la libreria costruita riprendendo l’idea di tempio, reminiscenza dell’architettura greca, luogo di riflessione e ricerca di un’antica saggezza.

The house on the hills facing Long Island Sound is featured by perfectly symmetric geometry in Palladian style. At the entrance the attention is drawn from a wide glass screen that widened from white both for exteriors and interiors. The balance of forms is refined: the large bull’s eye window creates full and empty spaces with light-ness flavour. There is a kind of continuity among the various rooms: from the entrance path one reaches the living room large window and from the hall one climbs to the top till the observatory, in a space interaction without physical and visual barriers. In front of the courtyard there is the bookshelf that recalls a Greek temple, a place to reflect and research for the furnishing choice.
