La scelta della forma più idonea alla composizione
The pergola represents a functional and decorative element in the garden, an ideal habitat for climbing species, able to offer privacy corners in the garden. The choice of the fittest shape for the architecture of one’s own garden takes on fundamental importance. The idea is to use the plant of the pergola functionally to the composition of the garden, a sort of “shape” within the “shape”. The pergola can be used with simple shapes, square or circular like an umbrella, which always yield a good effect. Let us assume that we have a circular garden with a central lawn. If we put a circular umbrella pergola in, higher than the lawn area, it is possible to grant a greater scenographic effect to the garden. A square pergola, instead, is more indicated for a garden with geometric elements, rigid lines and squared. The structure of a pergola can be handmade, tailored, employing traditional materials, or with prefabricated elements in wood, which make it possible to achieve DIY solutions. It should not be underestimated, then, also the species of the climbing tree to employ, nor its evolution in covering the pergola. Suitable climbing species are the following: Clematis sp., Hedera helix, Rhynchospermum jasminoides, Lonicera sempervirens, Parthenocissus tricuspidata ‘Veitchii’, Passiflora sp., climbing Roses, Wistaria sp.
