Un’ala posata tra le fronde, leggerezza futurista nel progetto dello studio Softroom

Un progetto che si presenta come il sogno naturale, ma altamente tecnologico, una via di mezzo tra lo sport estremo e il saccopelismo rampante.

This project is something of a natural dream yet it is highly technological, halfway between extreme sports
and backpacking.

L’immaginazione innanzi tutto. Ma forse non tanto: vi sono già stati casi di ecologisti che, per la difesa a oltranza degli alberi, hanno passato mesi tra le chiome frondose. Questa “Tree House” disegnata dallo studio Softroom di Londra propone in materiali leggeri una piattaforma triangolare ancorata al tronco grazie a una serie di solidi anelli strutturati
in modo tale da non danneggiare la corteccia, e offre spazio sufficiente per l’equivalente di una tenda da campeggio, per un comparto contenitori (per l’igiene personale e le scorte) e un balcone.

Imagination before all else. Or perhaps not: there have already been cases of ecologists who, in order to defend trees to the bitter end, have spent months in their leafy tops. This ‘Tree House’ designed by the Softroom studio of London is a lightweight triangle that is anchored to the trunk thanks to a series of rings structured such that they do not damage the bark.

Sotto la struttura è tesa una tela per evitare incursioni indesiderate. L’elegante scala di accesso, per sicurezza, è retrattile nella parte bassa. Si dice che l’uomo scese dagli alberi milioni di anni or sono: oggi trova il sistema per ritornarci, ma con comodità un tempo imprevedibili. E invece di abbatterli per far spazio a nuovi edifici, di abitarli.

It provides enough space for a tent, a container area (for personal hygiene and supplies), and a balcony. Beneath the structure there is a tarpaulin to stop unwelcome visitors. For safety, the elegant access staircase can be retracted in the lower part. It is said that man came down from trees millions of years ago; now he is finding a way to return to them, only with comforts that were once unimaginable. So rather than cut them down to make way to buildings, why not inhabit them?

Una proposta radicale di Oliver Salway, Christopher Bagot e Daniel Evans , i componenti del gruppo londinese “Softroom”: cogliere un nuovo stile di vita, riabitare la natura, ma con sagacia. Materiali leggeri che fanno di una piattaforma una specie di grande foglia. Si prevede anche un sistema di funi che consentono di passare con una cabina aperta, da un albero a un altro.

A radical idea by Oliver Salway, Christopher Bagot and Daniel Evans, members of the ‘Softroom’ group of London. The idea is for a new style of life, of returning to nature, only with shrewdness. Light materials create a sort of platform in the shape of a large leaf. A cable system lets you go from tree to tree, from one open cabin to another.
