Il giardino all’ultimo piano

Pur dovendo vivere a Milano, in piena città, a pochi passi dal traffico più intenso, il proprietario di questa casa non voleva rinunciare al verde,alla tranquillità,alla vita all ’aria aperta e,soprattutto,ai suoi piccoli amici:le tartarughe d ’acqua e di terra,gli scoiattoli tamia, i pesci, le marmotte e tanti altri teneri animaletti. Il sogno è diventato realtà grazie alla sapiente trasformazione del terrazzo a vero e proprio giardino, con tanto di tappeto erboso, laghetto e piante da frutto, e alla creazione di una splendida veranda, molto ben articolata,che fa da “trait d ’union ” tra l ’interno e l’esterno. L ’elemento veranda è stato pensato con lo scopo preciso di collegare giardino e abitazione senza soluzione di continuità.Nei mesi invernali il giardino “entra ”nella casa, nei mesi più caldi la casa si apre sul giardino diventandone parte.

Despite being compelled to live in the heart of Milan, just a short distance from intense city traffic, the owner of this house did not wish to forego greenery, tranquillity, open-air living or, above all, his little friends:turtles and tortoises, chipmunks,fish,muskrats and numerous other small animals.Thanks to the skilful conversion of a terrace into a real garden with lawn, small lake, fruit trees and the creation of a magnificent, cleverly-designed veranda that acts as trait d ’union between the inside and the outside,he has made his dream become reality.The veranda area was designed with the specific purpose of connecting the garden to the house without there being any noticeable interruption. During the winter months, the garden “comes into the house ”whilst, during the summer months the house opens out onto the garden in order to become a part of it.

Volutamente impercettibile il passaggio tra lo spazio abitativo vero e proprio e la veranda che lo collega al giardino.
The transit area between the actual living-quarters and the veranda that connects them to the garden is purposefully imperceptible.
All ’ultimo piano di questo palazzo cittadino sorge un ’oasi di verde e tranquillità popolata da numerose specie animali. An oasis of greenery and tranquillity inhabited by numerous animal species may be found on the top floor of this city building.
Fino a 60 cm. di terra, ed un esperto lavoro d ’impermeabilizzazione, sono stati necessari per realizzare il giardino pensile.
As much as 60 cm.of earth and skilful waterproofing were required to create this hanging garden.

Dalla veranda è possibile percepire l ’alternarsi delle stagioni attraverso la vegetazione,che è stata collocata a formare delle quinte scenografiche. Il laghetto e il piccolo ruscello hanno funzione estetica e di “abbeveratoio ”per gli animali. In questo piccolo ma perfetto ecosistema, lo spazio abitativo si fonde perfettamente con quello del giardino…per la gioia di tutti i suoi abitanti!
Carefully positioned vegetation,arranged to form a scenic backdrop,makes it possible to perceive the changing seasons from the veranda.The lake and small stream have not only been designed for aesthetic purposes but also act as a “watering-hole ” for the animals. In this small but perfect ecosystem, to the joy of all its inhabitants, the living quarters blend in harmoniously with that of the garden.
