Giancarlo Allen, architetto esperto in progettazione ecologica, ha scelto di realizzare la casa per sé e per la sua famiglia, applicando i canoni di una scienza che, affondando le proprie radici nel passato, supportata ora da moderne tecnologie, sembra protagonista di un futuro abitativo piacevole, oltre che ecocompatibile.

Architect Giancarlo Allen, expert in ecological design, has decided to build a house for himself and his family using the canons of a science, which by delving into the past, and today aided by modern technology, point to what looks set to be the house of the future, both pleasurable and eco-compatible.

“Il giardino, da cui dipende il microclima esterno, abbassa
le temperature estive. E’inoltre, barriera visiva
e favorisce l’isolamento acustico.

The garden, upon which depends the outside microclimate, lowers
summ er temperatures. It also provides a visual barrier and soundproofing.”

Il legno sia dei pavimenti trattati a cera sia delle strutture portanti e la calce degli intonaci sono i materiali scelti, non per nostalgia del passato ma perché, essendo traspiranti, garantiscono, abbinati al riscaldamento a battiscopa e alla potente stufa a legna, un ottimo equilibrio di umidità relativa.

Wax-treated wood flooring, wood for the load-bearing structures, and lime for the plaster on the walls were chosen not for their nostalgic appeal but because, being elements that breathe, together with the skirting-board heating and the powerful wood burning stove, they ensure a perfect balance of relative humidity.

si affaccia verso sud con vetrate schermate da tendaggi. A nord sono le zone di servizio.

Both sleeping area on the first floor and living area on the
ground floor are south facing, with large curtain-screened windows. Service areas are located north. ”

Il cemento armato è limitato alle fondazioni, il muro perimetrale, spesso cm.40, è in blocchi di laterizio. I solai, in legno di abete, per evitare rumori di calpestio sono isolati con fibra di cocco e sughero, il tetto con sughero e guaine in carta oleata. Reinforced concrete is only used for the foundations.

The cm.40 thick perimeter wall is made of brickwork. Wooden-beam flooring is in pinewood, and to prevent footstep noise this has been soundproofed using coconut matting and cork; the roof has cork and sheathing in greaseproof paper.
