Due proposte relative a spazi piuttosto limitati nel perimetro o in altezza. La prima mansarda propone due soluzioni che si differenziano per i rivestimenti; l’altra sfrutta sapientemente tutti gli spazi del locale adattando alla superficie disponibile tutti gli elementi fondamentali del bagno.

Two ideas for spaces of limited surface area or height. The first mansard proposes two solutions
that differ in the coverings used; the other cleverly uses all spaces by adapting all fundamental elements of the bathroom to the surface area available.

Le due soluzioni relative ad un piccolo bagno di 5,5 mq., ricavato nel sottotetto di un appartamento, propongono due tipi di rivestimento diversi per colore e formato. Nella prima l’architetto ha utilizzato piastrelle di ceramica rosso rubino da 15,2×15,2 cm. applicate sulle pareti inclinandole di 45° rispetto al pavimento, per creare volutamente un disegno fino ad arrivare all’altezza in corrispondenza della quale, dopo una fila di piastrelle uguali alle prime ma poste parallelamente al pavimento, si trova il vano della finestra. La seconda soluzione prevede invece piastrelle orizzontali dal colore più luminoso per ovviare alle piccole dimensioni del locale ed evitare che risulti ancora più piccolo e buio.
Dall’impianto planimetrico è possibile vedere la tipologia di porta utilizzata: per le ridotte dimensioni del locale si è optato per una porta a vetri doppia (il vetro è acidato con decorazioni liberty) a “ventola”, apribile, cioè, in tutti e due i sensi.

Grazie ai rivestimenti ceramici è possibile “giocare” e creare superfici movimentate. Il vano della finestra si trova a 107 cm. dal pavimento, ragion per cui il rivestimento di piastrelle si conclude a 1,03 mt. di altezza. Thanks to the ceramic coverings, the surfaces are given movement. The window is at 107 cm from the floor, which is why the tiles stop at a height of 1.03 cm. sanitary fixtures have been chosen.

Il disegno in pianta del bagno mostra l’ingombro dei due vani rettangolari e le due antine a battente inserite per chiuderli. A destra dell’ingresso è stato posto un mobiletto con una piccola specchiera. Bathroom floor plan shows the space requirements for the two rectangular rooms and the two small hinged shutters used to close them. A small vanity unit with little mirror has been placed to the right of the entrance.

Inoltre sono ben visibili due vani rettangolari posti dietro il muro dei sanitari, nel sottotetto. Inutilizzati prima dei lavori, sono stati ora chiusi inserendo due antine a battente a filo del rivestimento parietale (e rivestite con le stesse piastrelle) e possono essere ora utilizzati come ripostiglio. Il pavimento, un tradizionale parquet in legno,
era preesistente ma è stato fatto levigare e trattare con un prodotto ad effetto cera che lo rende più luminoso. Nell’altra mansarda il tetto ha una struttura in acciaio a doppia T e travi in legno a vista: nello spazio inizialmente riservato ad un piccolo ripostiglio è stata ricavata una doccia dove non è stato eseguito un sottofondo classico ma solo uno spessore minimo per posare un piatto doccia in marmo fatto su misura (140×150 cm.). Per il rivestimento delle pareti l’architetto ha pensato ad un composto che ricordasse la pietra e il color sabbia abbinandolo ad un piccolo listello di alluminio da 1 cm. che corre lungo tutto il perimetro del bagno.

La sezione mostra l’altezza del localebagno e l’inclinazione della falda del tetto con l’apertura della finestra. Cross section shows the height of the bathroom and the slope of the roof with the window opening.

The two solutions relative two a small bathroom of 5.5 m2 located beneath the roof of an apartment, propose two types of covering that differ in colour and format. In the first example, the architect has applied ruby red 15.2 x 15.2 cm ceramic tiles to the walls. These are at a 45° angle to the floor creating a motif that goes all the up to the level row of tiles placed just beneath the window. The second solution uses horizontally placed tiles of brighter tonality, which sets off the small size of the room and avoids the risk of it looking too small and dark. The floor plan shows the type of door used. Owing to the small size of the room, a small double glazed flap door has been opted for (the glass is frosted and has Art Deco motifs) that can be opened in both directions. Also clearly visible are two rectangular spaces located behind the wall of the sanitary fixtures, in the attic.

La seconda versione per il rivestimento del bagno. Per i sanitari sono state scelte forme tondeggianti. The second version for the covering of the bathroom. Rounded sanitary fixtures have been chosen.

Previously unused, now they have been closed by two small hinged shutters flush with the wall covering (and covered using the same tiles) so that they can now be used as a closet. The floor, a traditional wooden parquet, was already present but it has been sanded and treated to provide a wax-look finish that makes it brighter. In the other mansard, the roof has an I-beam structure with visible wooden beams. In the space initially reserved for a small closet, a shower has been made without the classic bedding but only with the minimum thickness for laying the custom made marble shower dish (140x150cm). For the wall coverings, the architect has come up with a mixture that recalls stone and the colour of sand; this has been matched up with a small aluminium strip that runs around the perimeter of the bathroom.

Nelle foto: la doccia è chiusa da una porta in vetro realizzata su misura per seguire l’andamento della trave in acciaio (visibile anche in sezione).
La vasca da bagno idromassaggio è realizzata su disegno dell’architetto e rivestita da una scocca in legno wengé. Il disegno tecnico del soffione mostra che è stato studiato per poterlo inserire nella doccia compatibilmente con le travi.

The shower is closed by a custom made door that follows the alignment of the steel beam (also visible in the section).
The whirlpool bath tub has been designed by the architect and covered with a supporting structure in wengé wood. The technical drawing of the shower head shows how it has been designed to be inserted in the shower, depending on the beams.

Nelle foto: Sul fondo la vasca incassata in un vano curvilineo (da un lato) di legno disegnato dall’architetto come anche il mobile del lavabo rettangolare, sorretto da due staffe in acciaio lucidato e da alcuni tasselli a scomparsa
nel muro e nel mobile. Nel piano è stato ricavato anche un taglio per il passaggio verticale dello scaldasalviette.

In the background, the bathtub inset in a curvilinear wooden space (on one side) designed by the architect; likewise the rectangular washbasin supported by two polished steel rests and extractable elements in the wall and cabinet.
An opening has been made in the top for the vertical passage of the towel warmer.
