REINTERPRETING A “SYSTEM”: THE TENSOSTRUCTURE AS A COVERING FOR THE HOME

Esemplare caso di utilizzo di sistemi di tensostruttura in edifici per civile abitazione o per terziario è l’Hotel Rodavento, nella Valle de Bravo, in Messico, il cui progetto architettonico, ad opera degli architetti Federico Gòmez Crespo G.B.+Waldemar Franco Sol, si basa su un delicato equilibrio con l’ambiente circostante.
Intervenire in luoghi caratterizzati da un delicato equilibrio naturale, per i progettisti, è un processo che deriva da una attenta e meticolosa analisi del territorio, in cui risulta fondamentale il rapporto che si crea con l’opera progettata e il contesto in cui si inserisce. L’idea forte del progetto è stata quella di utilizzare come copertura degli edifici che fanno parte dell’intervento, sistemi di tensostruttura, che permettono di mantenere una “leggerezza” dell’edificio e dell’intervento stesso, favorendo un inserimento nel contesto ambientale il meno invasivo possibile. La tensostruttura, elemento utilizzato per la protezione dal sole e dalle intemperie in installazione “temporanee”, in questo caso assume un carattere “permanente”, grazie ad una reinterpretazione di questo elemento da parte dei progettisti. An exemplary case of the use of tensostructure systems in buildings for residential or tertiary use is the Hotel Rodavento in the Bravo Valley, Mexico to an architectural design by architects Federico Gòmez Crespo G.B + Waldemar Franco Sol, it is based on a delicate equilibrium with the surrounding environment. For the designers, operating in places with such a delicate natural equilibrium is a procedes from a careful and meticulous analysis of the territory in which the relationship that is created between the designed work and the context in which it is inserted is fundamental. The strong idea behind the design was that of using tensostructure systems as the cover for the buildings that are part of the project. Said structures make for a lightness of the building and the operation as a whole to be maintained favouring an insertion in the environmental context that was as non-invasive as possible. The tensostrucure, an element used for the protection from the sun and from bad weather in a “temporary" installation, in this case takes on a “permanent” character thanks to a reinterpretation of this element by the designers.
