Alle porte di Chamonix, sullo sfondo del maestoso ed imponente Monte Bianco, l’architetto Maria Savegnago, dello studio di architettura milanese Sottoquadro, ha ristrutturato una vecchia casa di montagna, dando vita a un graziosissimo chalet.
Così come dovrebbe sempre accadere, si è venuto a creare, durante i lavori di ristrutturazione, uno splendido rapporto di collaborazione tra il progettista e la padrona di casa. Questo continuo scambio di idee ha fatto sì che la casa riflettesse al massimo la personalità dei nuovi inquilini, creando un ambiente unico e personalizzato. Il nuovo progetto, così come in origine, si sviluppa su due piani. Esternamente, non sono state apportate grosse modifiche, mentre
all’interno la casa è stata adattata all’esigenze della nuova famiglia. La richiesta era quella di progettare uno spazio accogliente dove poter ospitare degli amici, ai quali far vivere quello spirito vacanziero di convivialità, e allo stesso tempo, quelle sensazioni che infonde l’architettura montana.

At the gates of Chamonix, with the majestic and imposing Monte Bianco in the background, architect Maria Savegnago of the Milan-based architect’s studio Sottoquadro, has converted an old mountain house into an elegant chalet. As should always be the case, during the renovation a splendid working rapport between the architect and the owner of the house was established. This ongoing exchange of ideas ensured that the personality of the new owners was fully reflected in a unique and personalised setting. The new project is on two floors, as was the original building. On the outside, no significant changes have been made, whereas inside the house has been adapted to suit the needs of the new family. The requirement was to design a welcoming space for friends which would bring out a holiday spirit of conviviality in a mountain setting.

La casa, come in origine, si sviluppa su due piani.
Anche se piccolo, l’angolo cottura è funzionale e ben accessoriato.
La cappa bordeaux si intona ai colori del camino.

The house is on two floors, as was the original building.
Although small, the kitchen corner is functional and well-equipped. A burgundy cooker hood matches the colours of the fireplace.

Una sorta di scultura in ferro naturale cerato, di chiara ispirazione gaudiana, lascia intravedere sullo sfondo ”Aiguille du
Midi”, la parete nord del Monte Bianco, punto di partenza per le scalate dirette verso le cime che attorniano la Vallée Blanche.
Paziente e meticoloso è stato il lavoro di ricerca, da parte della padrona di casa, di oggetti e decorazioni tipici delle zone montane.

The owner of the house carried out patient and meticulous research into objects and decorations typical of mountain regions.

NEL 2002, PER RISPONDERE ALLE RICHIESTE DA PARTE DEI COMMITTENTI E SOPRATTUTTO PER APPROFONDIRE E GESTIRE DIRETTAMENTE LE TEMATICHE CANTIERISTICHE, VIENE FONDATA UNA SOCIETÀ DI SERVIZI PER L’EDILIZIA. A PARTIRE DA QUESTA DATA, LO STUDIO È ATTREZZATO PER GARANTIRE LA REALIZZAZIONE, ANCHE “CHIAVI IN MANO”, DI SPAZI ABITATIVI, COMMERCIALI, TERZIARI, DI PICCOLE E MEDIE DIMENSIONI.

ruotano attorno al camino di colore bordeaux

La pavimentazione dell’intera abitazione si presenta come una superficie omogenea, in doghe di larice naturale verniciato ad acqua, mentre i rivestimenti verticali e il tetto sono realizzati in larice naturale.

The floor of the entire home is a uniform surface of natural larch wood planks with a water-based varnish, whereas wall and ceiling cladding has been made using natural larch wood.

Il letto, eseguito secondo le regole artigianali locali, è realizzato in legno invecchiato, lavorato a mano e cerato, e riporta, incisa a mano, un’antica ninna nanna locale.

Local artisans have made the bed using antiqued wood, worked and waxed by hand, displaying a local hand-carved
nursery rhyme.

Da un piccolo ingresso al piano terreno, si accede al primo livello, alla zona giorno. Un ambiente aperto e spazioso, dove gli arredi definiscono le zone funzionali. Tutto ruota attorno all’elemento, che da sempre nella storia, ha riunito gli animi: il fuoco. Bello e imponente, il camino è caratterizzato da una grande cappa di colore bordeaux e da spalle in pietra grigia locale, con una lunga panca in legno. Attorno ad esso, inizia la giornata dei vacanzieri. Un piccolo, ma grazioso angolo cottura, realizzato a vista, è stato dotato degli elementi indispensabili alla preparazione del cibo. La cappa, anch’essa di
colore bordeaux, si intona al camino..

A small entrance on the ground floor leads to the first level with living area, an open and spacious setting, where furniture marks out functional areas. Everything is centred around the fireplace, the one feature that has always brought people together. This attractive and imposing fireplace has a large burgundy coloured hood and sides in local grey stone, in addition to a long wooden bench. It is around this that the day of the holidaymakers begins. A small yet elegant cooking corner in full view has been fitted with all the necessary tools for preparing food. The hood, also burgundy, matches the fireplace. To prepare for the fun and games Chamonix offers its guests, here is the dining area. A long rectangular table in rough wood that displays typical working practices of the region. The wooden bench is embellished with cushions and brightly coloured fabrics that recreate the young and jovial atmosphere of mountain refuges. On the same level, we find the more cosy setting of the master bedroom.

QUALITÀ DELL’INTERVENTO

CENTRALITÀ DEL PROGETTO: PROGETTARE UNO SPAZIO ACCOGLIENTE DOVE OSPITARE GLI AMICI E FAR RESPIRARE L’ATMOSFERA MONTANA.
INNOVAZIONE: LA CAMERA DA LETTO È CONCEPITA COME UN’ALCOVA INTIMA E ACCOGLIENTE, INSERITA IN UNA CORNICE IN LEGNO, IMPREZIOSITA DA UNA GRAZIOSA FINESTRELLA CHE SI AFFACCIA SULLA ZONA GIORNO.
USO DEI MATERIALI: IL LEGNO È L’ELEMENTO PRINCIPE IN TUTTA LA CASA. A PAVIMENTO È STATO POSATO UN LARICE IN DOGHE AL NATURALE, VERNICIATO A ACQUA. PER I RIVESTIMENTI VERTICALI E DEL TETTO, È STATO SCELTO DEL LARICE NATURALE SPAZZOLATO, ANTICATO E SFUMATO IN DOGHE ORIZZONTALI.
NUOVE TECNOLOGIE: AL PIANO TERRA È STATO PREVISTO UN ANGOLO DEDICATO ALLA SAUNA.

Così come detta la tradizione il legno predomina in tutta la casa

Per prepararsi alle fatiche e al divertimento che Chamonix offre agli ospiti, ecco la zona pranzo.
Un lungo tavolo rettangolare, in legno grezzo, che recupera forme e lavorazioni tipiche del luogo. La panca in legno è arricchita da imbottiti e rivestimenti in tessuto colorati e allegri, che ricreano l’atmosfera calda e gioviale tipica dei
rifugi alpini. Sullo stesso piano, in una zona più intima e appartata, la stanza da letto padronale.
Concepita come un’alcova intima e accogliente, è inserita in una cornice in legno, impreziosita da una graziosa finestrella che si affaccia sulla zona giorno. E dopo una giornata sulle piste, ecco che arriva il meritato riposo! Al piano terra, le stanze da letto e i bagni, con un piccolo angolo dedicato alla sauna e al relax.

Designed as a private and welcoming alcove, it is inserted in a wood surround embellished with an elegant little window that looks onto the living area. After a day on the slopes, well-deserved rest is just the thing! On the ground floor, the bedrooms and the bathrooms, with a small corner for a sauna and for relaxation. In the bedrooms, teamwork between owner and architect has recreated appealing atmospheres thanks to a selection of finishes, materials and furnishings reminiscent of old chalets.
Wood is the main element of the house.
The floor has natural larch wood planks with a wat
er-based varnish.
For the vertical cladding and for the ceiling, the architect has opted for natural brushed and antiqued horizontal larch wood planks.

Funzionale, caldo e accogliente, il bagno padronale serve la zona giorno e la stanza da letto padronale. Un minuzioso
lavoro di manutenzione ordinaria ha riportato gli esterni alla bellezza originaria.

Functional, warm and welcoming, the master bathroom serves both the living area and the master bedroom. Painstaking maintenance work has brought back the exterior to its former beauty.

La camera da letto padronale è concepita come un’alcova intima e accogliente, inserita in una cornice in legno; è impreziosita da una graziosa finestrella che si affaccia sulla zona giorno.

Designed as a private and welcoming alcove, the master bedroom has a wood surround embellished with an elegant little window that looks onto the living area.

Nelle camere da letto, il lavoro di equipe del progettista e della padrona di casa ha ricreato atmosfere suggestive, grazie all’utilizzo di finiture, materiali e scelta di suppellettili, che ci rimandano alle vecchie baite.
Il legno è l’elemento principe in tutta la casa.
A pavimento è stato posato un larice in doghe, al naturale, verniciato ad acqua.
Per i rivestimenti verticali e del tetto, il progettista ha scelto il larice naturale spazzolato, anticato e sfumato in doghe orizzontali.
